What makes Himalayan pink salt so special?

Himalayan Pink SaltYou could be forgiven for thinking for thinking that all salts are the same. However, there is a large difference between the two main types of salt used for therapeutic purposes. These two salts are Himalayan pink salt and pharmaceutical grade salt.

Himalayan salt contains over 80 vital trace minerals and emits the most negative ions which purify the air of pollutants and bacteria thus creating a healthy micro climate. On the other hand, pharmaceutical grade salt is comparable to table salt in that it has almost no health benefits or mineral quality at all. When used in a salt cave environment, pharmaceutical grade salt is almost entirely ineffective in treating respiratory and skin conditions.

How can I tell the difference between Himalayan salt and pharmaceutical grade salt?

Himalayan salt or pink salt is named after its unique and beautiful appearance. It ranges in colour from a very light baby pink or peach to a deep crimson red and can have some flecks of an opaque white. Pharmaceutical grade salt ranges from opaque white to almost completely transparent.

Salt Caves uses only Himalayan pink salt in the salt room and halotherapy chamber as well as in all of the salt therapy products available via the online store.

Have you considered salt therapy as an Asthma treatment?

For many centuries now, salt therapy has been used across eastern Europe as an alternative therapy for a variety of respiratory conditions such as Asthma. Many people are not aware of what salt therapy involves. In short, it is a natural, drug-free, non-invasive and painless treatment which consists of sitting in a large Himalayan salt filled room for 45 minutes to an hour, relaxing and focusing on breathing. Many medical Asthma treatments involve the inhalation of drugs which is what makes salt therapy such a revolutionary alternative asthma treatment.

So how does salt therapy as an asthma treatment work?

In Asthma suffers, the bronchi are are inflamed and filled with mucous which makes it difficult to breathe. The microscopic Himalayan salt particles travel deep into the respiratory system and into the bronchial tubes. Once there, the salt targets the site of the mucous and irritation and works to dry out and loosen it from the bronchial tube wall. This leads to Asthma suffers being able to breathe easier as the swelling of the bronchi is reduced.

How many salt therapy sessions are recommended for asthma treatment?

Each case is different as each Asthma sufferer is unique. Many people will start to notice a difference within their first two to four sessions and will subsequently continue to notice changes as well as maintain their improvements as long as they continue to attend regular salt therapy sessions.

Salt Therapy helps healing naturally

For hundreds of years, people have trusted the benefits of salt therapy using Himalayan salt to relieve respiratory conditions like asthma, emphysema and bronchitis. Salt therapy also has amazing abilities to heal skin conditions including acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema. Today, people of all ages can benefit from the natural healing properties found in Himalayan salt through sat therapy in a man made salt cave.  Salt therapy is a drug free treatment that reproduces the natural micro climate of a Himalayan salt cave by dispersing saline aerosol in high concentrations in a halo chamber whose surfaces are covered with salt. The dry salt aerosol in the room plays an important role in the relief of health problems and is a highly effective therapy for treating people with respiratory problems like asthma and bronchitis and skin conditions without any known side effects. Our salt cave has large blocks of Himalayan salt on all walls (over 14 tonnes) inside a single cave.

The salt cave is a warmed room which has several inches of salt covering the floor, ceiling and walls. We use Himalayan salt crystals – the purest natural salt renowned for its ability to help regulate and promote respiratory and vascular health. The temperature and humidity of the halo chamber is maintained at a constant level for your comfort. Close your eyes and enjoy the serenity of the salt cave or choose to read or listen to music. The salt cave contains a designated children’s area with plenty of toys to play with. Studies have found that children respond very effectively to salt therapy.

As the salt is inhaled, it travels through the sinuses and respiratory tract absorbing moisture, cleansing, clearing mucus and killing bacteria.
